About Peter

Peter Wolfgang Stegner, 55, passed away on March 29, 2021 while on a family vacation in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Peter was a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he lived with his wife Monica Rogozinski and son Mathias. Born on October 7, 1965 in Nördlingen, Germany, Peter was the youngest son of Roswitha and Wolfgang Stegner and brother of Doris Denzinger.

After Peter received his degree in Landscape Architecture from the Technical University of Munich in 1997, he and Monica chose to start a life together in New York City where they met. His love for nature and modern urban design were ever-present in his many photographs, magazine articles and drawings. In 2003 Peter started working at the Landscape Architecture firm OLIN in Philadelphia, where he contributed his talents to many prominent national and international projects until he suffered a severe stroke in 2011.

Peter’s most cherished memories were of his years as boy scout in Germany, his wedding in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro, and the birth of his beloved son in 2005.

Peter will be missed by his German and Brazilian families, his friends and colleagues, and the many people who lovingly cared for him during his last 10 years.
